The Columbia County incident happened Thursday night, March 14, in the city of Hudson.
Hudson Police said they found the victim at around 10:30 p.m. “distressed” and covered in mud following an attack by her ex-boyfriend, 54-year-old Orlando Williams, of Hudson.
The victim told investigators that she was alone smoking a cigarette on her back deck when Williams grabbed her, covered her mouth, and dragged her against her will down a path to a wooded area behind the old JLE School.
It was there that he tried stabbing and choking the woman in an attempt to kill her, police allege.
The woman’s current boyfriend called 911 and intervened, allowing her to escape. She suffered minor injuries but declined medical treatment.
At the time of the alleged attack, the victim had an order of protection against Williams.
New York State Police located and arrested him the following day in Greene County. He is charged with the following:
- Attempted murder
- Kidnapping
- Strangulation
- Criminal possession of a weapon
- Criminal contempt
Williams was arraigned at the City of Hudson Court and taken to the Columbia County jail.
Anyone with information in the case is asked to contact the Hudson Police Department at 518-828-3388.
